Ethan has always loved a well-designed and put-together book or magazine, so when the opportunity arose to be both a co-founder and designer of N.A.S., he jumped at it.
He hopes that through this magazine, he can share and grow with others, Sydney-based film photography and the amazing community surrounding the craft.

Pinga is a visual/sound enthusiast, born in Zimbabwe and residing in Australia. Why photography as the chosen medium? It challenges me as a storyteller to see how much of your attention I can captivate instantaneously. It’s the flash in a pan moment, a lightning strike…blink once, and you will miss it type of moment. It almost seems meaningless, after all, if it can easily be missed, then it must not be important? Wrong! It’s a matter of scale, proportion and relativity. Think of the average human lifespan: is it not a flash in the pan compared to the millions…billions of years of our galaxy? Technically, yes, our time on Earth does not compare to the Cosmos; however, who would dare say that it’s meaningless? So what I am interested in is freezing time to pluck moments from what is forever fluid and ever-changing, so we remember our humanity.

Aimee Cass is an emerging writer and editor living and working on unceded Gadigal land, Sydney. She studied English at the University of Sydney, where her honours thesis examined the intersection of geology and literature through mid-century fiction. When she isn’t writing, she’s likely hiking, cooking, reading, or admiring an especially well-shaped rock. Her favourite authors include Maggie Nelson, Ursula K. Le Guin, Louise Glück, and Deborah Levy. As an editor at N.A.S., Aimee is interested in the conversation between photography and language — the ways they intersect, diverge, and translate one another. Can a photograph read as a kind of text? What can an image articulate that words cannot? When words and images co-exist on a page, how do they shift each other’s meaning?
