Michelle Wong is a Sydney-based photographer working across live music events and editorial studio work. Shooting on film, she’s drawn to the discipline as it requires the photographer to be fully present in the moment — no second-guessing, one chance, one shot.

This photo series is a love letter to my desire to live in the present. Shooting digitals can bring a sense of disposability, like every photo is just one of many. Shooting on film, however, is like meeting someone properly instead of just passing them on the street.
Featuring Bunnybearfuntime, Binsad, & Witch Doctor, I wanted to put a spotlight on the local Sydney band scene and the wonderful musicians that make it happen.
It’s so important to have real musicians playing in our bars and hotels in a time when so many small venues are closing all over Sydney right now. I wanted to bring attention to these artists and encourage people to support our local nightlife before it disappears.
